How’s the market?

One of my favorite questions! In an environment where the majority believes we are in a recession (we are not), it’s not surprising that when I tell folks the market is GREAT, they look… surprised.

The facts:

For the year, Marin sold almost 3% more properties than the year before.

Average sale price is up 6%

Interest rates ended ’24 right where they started the year. After a rocky year of elections, rate gyrations and inflation uncertainties, buyers are out looking for value.

Fully recognizing that we in the Bay Area have what everyone else in the world wants (a robust economy), real estate has been and will continue to be an awesome investment. Well advised buyers are stepping in knowing that, a.) They are hedged against the possibility of rising interest rates; b.) Should rates decline, a refinancing will allow them to capture the lower rates; and, c.) To do otherwise is to simply throw rent money out the window.
