Shoes Inspired by Architecture

“If you want something done right, do it yourself,” — a timeless saying that reflects a sense of motivation to get something done. For French-Canadian shoe designer Jessica Bedard, the “do-it-yourself” project she took on happened to be an entire bridal shoe collection. Inspired by the lack of shoe choices she encountered when planning her own wedding, Bedard set out to design shoes for the modern bride in a collection that embodies the tradition, celebration and beauty of love.

“Every bride should have the perfect shoe for her special day,” says Bedard. “Like your dress, the accessories and the flowers, your shoes should be as exceptional as you are.”

Each pair of Jessica Bedard shoes feature luxurious materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The contemporary, yet timeless designs make them beautifully versatile shoes brides can wear long after the big day. Even with these modern styles, tradition is never excluded as each pair of Jessica Bedard Bridal shoes feature the classic bridal “requirements” to complete the look.

For Something Old, the traditional saying is beautifully etched on the sole of each shoe; the Something New is the new pair of Jessica Bedard shoes. To fulfill the Something Borrowed rule, the sole of each pair’s left shoe contains a magnetic ring — the bride removes the ring and ships it back to Jessica Bedard in a small envelope tucked into the shoe box. This ring is then used on another pair of shoes destined for another bride. For Something Blue, it’s easy to recognize a Jessica Bedard shoe by the light pastel blue on the tip of the heel.

Recently, Bedard’s shoe collection began featuring a more diverse selection of prêt-à-porter styles from boots, pumps, sandals, flats and more — a “ready to wear collection” with an interesting sense of inspiration.

“For the Ready to wear collection, I am inspired by European architecture. I try to use clean lines and love to work with different textures. I love earth tones and used real leather insole and real leather outsole which makes my shoes extremely comfortable!”

This first pret-a-porter collection from Jessica Bedard features the same meticulous craftsmanship and modern styling of the innovative bridal designs. Handmade in Italy, a Jessica Bedard shoe invokes a sense of natural luxury — the clean, architectural lines and unexpected details define a new sense of style for the woman who wears them.
